To sponsor parents or grandparents for permanent residence, an individual must participate in an annual drawing and wait to be chosen to apply. Every year, there is a quota of about 20,000 invitations. Only those who are qualified ought to participate in the drawing. If not, your application will be rejected on the grounds of ineligibility.
After receiving an invitation, individuals have 60 days to complete and submit an application to the IRCC. It is imperative that the application be submitted completely; if not, it will be returned after four months and not be accepted. Individuals will not be able to sponsor on the granted invitation since, by the time the application is returned for incompleteness, the 60-day window for submitting a complete application will have passed. These people will need to reenter the draw once more in the following years in the hopes of receiving another invitation to sponsor.
The Super Visa program is a fantastic method to bring parents and grandparents to Canada. Family members may enter Canada as long-term guests under this program, with multiple entry visas valid for a maximum of ten years. A Super Visa needs to be renewed every five years after it expires.
For Canadian citizens and permanent residents who do not currently meet the requirements for parental PR sponsorship or who are waiting to sponsor their parents for permanent residence, this is a great choice.
For non-visa-exempt countries, a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) may also be necessary, depending on the citizenship of the sponsored individual. Please be aware that if a TRV is needed, there is a strict screening procedure and a significant rejection rate for independent applicants. See the list of countries where a TRV is necessary to determine if one is needed. Furthermore, consult the typical grounds for rejection of a TRV visa.
